Man Calls 911 for Cheeseburger

Man Calls 911 for Cheeseburger, A wanted New Castle man's repeated calls to 911 got him a trip to jail instead of the cheeseburger he was craving, police said.

Gregory Jackson Sr., 52, called Henry County's 911 dispatch center multiple times Friday night requesting the fast food favorite, according to a police report......theindychannel.

That's when police determined that Jackson, who has a lengthy criminal record in the county, had failed to show up for a court hearing two days earlier, police said.

Jackson was later arrested at his apartment.

He was being held without bond Monday at the Henry County Jail awaiting a hearing Wednesday.

The Star Press reported that Jackson has been convicted of public intoxication at least 13 times since the early 1990s, including three times in 2012 and most recently Feb. 15.

Henry County Sheriff Butch Baker told the newspaper that if Jackson got a meal after his arrival at the jail Friday night, it would have been a peanut butter-and-jelly sandwich, not a cheeseburger.

RTV6 confirmed Jackson was given a peanut butter-and-jelly sandwich and was not sent to bed hungry.
