Miami curfew: New curfew law enforcement in Miami put in place for kids under 17

Miami curfew: New curfew law enforcement in Miami put in place for kids under 17, Miami curfew laws now state that children under 17 have to be home by 11 p.m. This new Miami curfew enforcement is apparently being done to get kids off the street late at night. According to a report from Thursday (Feb. 28), the law that has been in place for nearly 20 years will finally receive full enforcement by Miami police.

Under the Juvenile Curfew Ordinance, anyone under 17 has to home by 11 p.m. unless accompanied by an adult from Sunday through Thursday. On the weekend, that curfew is in place beginning at midnight. On all nights, though, the curfew will extend until 6 a.m. the following morning.

This might be a surprising ordinance to be put in place, but there probably aren't that many parents that will be upset about it. The release from the Miami Police did say that there will be exceptions to the rules if work, school, or written permission is obtained by the parents.

This latest Miami curfew enforcement doesn't seem to have a down side, as it is simply a way to support parents that want their kids home at night. Parents can sign off on letting their kids stay out as long as they want, but that is where the requirement of permission comes into play.
