Determined World War II veteran learns how to read at 89

Determined World War II veteran learns how to read at 89, Ed Bray is a World War II veteran. He landed at Normandy on D-Day, won two Purple Hearts and another dozen medals.
He spent much of his civilian life refueling Air Force planes......now.msn.

But it was the one thing he was unable to do that left the 89-year-old Oklahoma man pained — read.

For years, a co-worker helped him with paperwork, and his wife of 62 years handled things at home until she died in 2009. Recently, Bray began meeting with Tobi Thompson, a reading education professor at Northeastern State University.

Last week, Bray finished reading his first book (about George Washington), and since completed three more third-grade-level biographies. “It gave me goose bumps and it still does,” Bray said. Someone cutting onions in here?
