Harper Gruzins I’ve Got A Dream

Harper Gruzins I’ve Got A Dream, On July 31, 2012, eleven-year-old Coppell, Texas resident Harper Gruzins was featured on Good Morning America because she had become an overnight sensation.

A YouTube video of her singing the National Anthem had over one million views.......litefm.cbslocal.

Unfortunately, it had views for all the wrong reasons.  Due to technical problems she experienced while singing in front of 22,000 people, Harper’s performance was called “The Worst National Anthem in History.

As the video spread like wildfire, so did threats of death, rape and other violence against Harper and her family.  We were disgusted when we heard the details about the cyber-bullying, she’s just an 11-year-old child who did her best.  She didn’t do anything wrong.  She certainly didn’t deserve death threats.

Well, Harper wrote a song about her experience. However, it is not a song of anger, but a song of love.  This 11-year-old child has more wisdom than we will ever possess.  She told us she forgives the bullies and hopes “God will soften their hearts.”  We were blown away by her gentleness and insight.  We are humbled by her ability to forgive and love those who threw such vile hatred at her.

But Harper didn’t want to stop there.  She wants to make a difference, and she wants to stop bullying everywhere.

Did you know:

282,000 kids are attacked at school every year.
90% of students say they were bullied between the 4th and 8th grade.
Bullying is increasingly viewed as an important contributor to youth violence, including homicide and suicide. Case studies of the shooting at Columbine High School and other U.S. schools have suggested that bullying was a factor in many of the incidents.
Join Harper and combat bullying by showing love.  You can help by purchasing her beautiful new song “I’ve Got A Dream” for 99-cents, and 100% of the money collected will go to “United Against Bullying.”  You can make a difference– show Harper you stand by her and bullying must come to an end.
