Senator plays Cupid, Warm weather hasn't come to Washington just yet, but spring fever hit the Hill yesterday just the same.
When approached online by his press secretary's boyfriend, Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., agreed to sacrifice his official Twitter account to young love Thursday evening......gma.yahoo.
@ markwarner Senator: your PressSecy pays more attn to this feed than her own - can I borrow this space for a minute?
— Brett Wanamaker (@Brett_Wanamaker) March 7, 2013
@ brett_wanamakerCertainly. Best of luck!
— Mark Warner (@MarkWarner) March 7, 2013
Social media experts say one of the main goals of using tools like Twitter is engagement - but perhaps not the way Brett Wanamaker interpreted it.
@ markwarner @ bethaleh Beth Ellen Adelson, will you marry me?
— Brett Wanamaker (@Brett_Wanamaker) March 7, 2013
@ brett_wanamaker what is happening
— Beth Adelson (@bethaleh) March 7, 2013
These two tweets from Wanamaker, whose Facebook lists him as being a member of the 2013 class at Johns Hopkins University's medical school in Baltimore, were his first ever. The reply from Adelson was a bit of a cliffhanger, but the story had a happy ending, documented for all to see on Warner's Twitter feed.
